About AMEN

ABOUT

Arlingtonians Meeting Emergency Needs, Inc. (AMEN) is a not-for-profit organization without religious affiliation that provides one-time,
same-day emergency financial assistance to residents of Arlington County, Virginia, who encounter unexpected financial emergencies.

Mission Statement:

AMEN provides a safety net to Arlington’s most needy residents. We give same-day emergency financial assistance on a one-time basis to keep Arlington residents in their homes, to keep their utilities on, to provide access to health care, and to support employment through clothing and transportation assistance. AMEN issues checks to the appropriate creditors on behalf of our clients, following established guidelines.

AMEN’s History

AMEN was founded in 1975 by a collaboration of concerned Arlington residents and faith community leaders.  Their goal was to create a coordinated response to genuine financial emergency requests, to assure that limited funds would go to serve real needs.  AMEN has continued to provide this emergency financial assistance to Arlington residents in need for almost 35 years now.
